** DISCLAIMER: The following post is a non-partisan, verbal ass-kicking to our government. It does not cast a shadow on Obama and his administration. They still get my love. However, it seems our government needs a little tough love these days.**

And, here it is.

I can speak for myself when I say how shocked I was to find out that Congress had not stipulated how the bank's were going to spend the $700 billion of our tax dollars that they so quickly terrorized us into forking over this past fall. Furthermore, when the banks, who received the majority of that bailout, were asked how they money was being spent, they refused to answer. You see, Congress did not spell that out in the bailout plan, and thus, the banks are not obligated to provide that information.

AIG, and many non-bank institutions, cried bankruptcy without the government's ( and by government I mean taxpayer's) help. Yet, the very people that drove the company to bankruptcy, were receiving millions of dollars in bonuses. Can you guess where that money came from? If you can't, check your next W-2. Congress claimed that they were unaware of the pre-existing contracts that stipulated those bonuses, therefore there wasn't much that they could do to stop the bonuses from going into the pockets of some of the most selfish and greedy people on the planet.

Today, I read an article on how state's are misusing stimulus funds that were granted to save the hundreds of thousands of teaching jobs that would have been lost this year, due to our nation's economic crisis. Due to the fact that the legislation is fairly broad, state's are in turn using the money for construction, wallpaper and miscellaneous materials.

As a teacher, I've watched many lose their jobs over the years, not just this year. Education seems to be the first thing that is cut in our country. Politicians love to boast that they're going to make education a priority, yet their actions have always spoken louder than their words. And, those actions tell me that private interests are much more important than the education of our country's children. Even when an administration, like Obama's, is attempting to follow through with their campaign promises, the legislation is not specific enough, and therefore, the misuse of funds is on the rise.

It's apparent that lack of oversight and stipulations is clearly working against the intentions of legislation created to boulster our economy. Therefore, besides complaining about it ( as usual), I decided to come up with a solution.

I think our government should consider adding a post to the cabinet; Secretary of Specifics. The responsibilities of this role include picking apart legislation to ensure that the purpose and intent of each piece of legislation is clearly outlined. Stipulations should not only be worded so that there is no room for misinterpretation, they should be in large, bold print. The top of each legislative document pertaining to stimulus money should read : DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT MESSING AROUND WITH THIS MONEY. This individual and their department, should be comprised of all of the annoying people that we've encountered in our lives who remind us and/or correct us when we make an inaccurate statement.

I often teach my students that every living thing has a niche in our world. Everything and everyone serves a purpose. Therefore, before you complain about Johnny know-it-all, realize that even his annoying fund of knowledge and proclivity to correct you also serves a purpose. Don't just roll youreyes, or avoid him, encourage him to apply for this new cabinet position.

Who's with me?
